Dedication of the First Board Members' Memorial Stone and Tree

"Hoyt Park is a beautiful neighborhood park. Many people in the area have enjoyed it for many years. But some noticed that it needed some help to keep it a park that people would enjoy. Thus the formation of the Friends of Hoyt Park in 1995.

Today the Friends of Hoyt Park dedicates a memorial of a stone with a bronze plaque and a serviceberry tree to the founding board members of the Friends of Hoyt Park. This memorial symbolizes the Friends appreciation

… for their vision, their dedication, and their hard work in establishing the FHP as a non-profit organization,

… for their work in collaboration with the Parks Division on writing, acquiring funding for, and initiating projects in a master plan,

… and for the leadership of David Stephenson in steering the board so they could achieve all of this.

On behalf of the FHP I thank Gerhard Pechmann for the wonderful gift of this Baraboo Quartzite stone and bronze plaque for this memorial. Gerhard grew up in the Hoyt neighborhood and donated the materials and his talented labor for this memorial.

The founding board members we dedicate this memorial to are:

Please join me in a show of our appreciation for their successful accomplishments." [applause]

Dedicated at the FHP picnic on June 16, 2001 by Cindy Hoffland, Chairperson.
