We are either finishing up the project or just beginning to take it down.
My tower in the front yard is surrounded by cedar trees and in order for me to erect my large KT34XA beams, I had to assemble them on the tower piece by piece to get them up there originally. I wanted to upgrade them to the new style KT36XA's I decided the quickest and easiest way for rebuilding the beams was to hire a crane. Ordinarily it would have taken me days to redo all of this, but with the crane it was done in no time. The crane had to be large enough to reach up a 40 foot hill and to the top of my tower at 85 feet to get at the beams. The crane was positioned in my driveway. Thank goodness the asphault driveway could hold the crane without crushing it.
I rebuilt my beams using the new upgrade kits from M2 Antennas now making them the new style KT36XA's. These kits are very nice. They replace alot of inferior parts that were used on the original design. I think they will be up on my tower for years to come. At the same time I replaced my baluns with new ones from Array Solutions . This is a picture of the mounted balun using brackets that I fabricated to mount them to the boom.
