Vertical Insulated Section

This is the completed insulated section of my vertical. I used solid 1 inch fiberglass rod for the insulators. I had to use some aluminum tubing as a sleeve to get a tight fit for the rods. I had contemplated using bigger rods and turning them down on a lathe, but the tubing I had and the less expensive 1 inch rod looked like a better option. It is very sturdy and I made sure the rods went into the tower sections far enough to add a bit of strength to the whole setup. I finished off each leg by wrapping with 3M tape to help protect the fiberglass from sunlight. The total height of the tower above the insulated section is 91 feet.
